| When we tell people that we are hypnotists they will normally react in
one of two ways. The will either back-off from us and try not to
make eye contact or they will become fascinated and want to know more
about hypnosis and what we do.
Hypnotists are often considered to be 'magicians of the mind' and able to create miracles. Many hypnotists like to hide behind this facade as it brings a form of showmanship to their work. In fact hypnosis is a very natural phenomenon. People often fear that hypnosis is dangerous, and that there is some kind of dark magic at work. When used responsibly hypnosis is perfectly safe. People are often surprised after they have been hypnotised, as they often feel fully aware throughout the experience. When hypnotised, it is very unlikely that a subject will do anything that is in conflict with their normal moral code. If pushed by the hypnotist, a hypnotic subject will normally awaken or simply refuse to carry out the instruction. Many people think that hypnotherapy is a cure for every ailment and disease. Although hypnosis can be used to cure, and bring relief to many ailments, it cannot cure everything. |
